Lakota Hills Animal Clinic Inc

Lakota Hills Animal Clinic has been serving the West Chester and surrounding communities since 1976. The current owners are Dr. Mary Carter and Dr. Lorrie Meyer, both of whom graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, in 1988 and 1994 respectively.

In 2006 a brand new state of the art clinic was built on the same site as the original clinic, which was outgrown by our rapidly growing number of clientele, patients, doctors and staff members.

Lakota Hills Animal Clinic offers amenities including a spacious reception area, coffee bar, children’s play area, 5 examination rooms, a consultation/comfort room, separate glassed in ICU wards for feline and canine patients, a double surgical suite with heated tables, a dental alcove with digital dental radiology, a radiology area with a digital x-ray unit, an on site laboratory, an in-clinic pharmacy, and more!

  • Dr. Lorrie Meyer

    Veterinarian, Medical Director

    Dr. Lorrie Meyer is a 1994 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, has been with Lakota Hills Animal Clinic since 1995, and in 1997 purchased the clinic along with Dr. Carter.

    Dr. Meyer’s favorite areas of veterinary medicine include soft tissue surgery, cardiology, dermatology, oncology, and geriatric medicine.

    In her free time, Dr. Meyer enjoys reading, running, spinning, and spending time at sporting events with her family, which includes her husband Andrew and two sons.

    Dr. Meyer’s pets are all rescues including Scooby (Pug), Zoe (Australian Shepherd), Chester (mix breed from Aruba), Jingle, Storm, Franklin, and Natale (kitties), and a hen house full of chickens.

  • Dr. Mary Carter

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Mary Carter graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, has been with Lakota Hills Animal Clinic since 1989, and in 1997 purchased the clinic along with Dr. Meyer.

    Dr. Carter’s special interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and dermatology, with the challenges and rewards which they bring.

    In her time away from the clinic, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time with her family which includes her husband Brad, two daughters, and her pets.  She also loves horse shows, traveling, and flower gardening for hummingbirds and butterflies, with a special fondness for Monarch butterflies.

    Dr. Carter’s pets include Riley (Collie), Ashlin (Shepherd mix), Augustus (Labrador mix), Sloopy (Golden Retriever), Atlas (Ragdoll kitty), Eliza (Siamese mix kitty), and Dakota and Buckwheat (Quarter horses).

  • Dr. Jennifer Hogseth

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Jennifer Hogseth is a 2001 graduate of The Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine, located in Ithaca, NY.  She has been an associate veterinarian with Lakota Hills Animal Clinic since 2006.

    Dr. Hogseth's areas of special interest include dentistry, anesthesia and pain management, geriatric medicine, and feline medicine.  She was instrumental in ensuring that the clinic received their certification as a "Cat Friendly Practice".

    In her time away from the clinic, Dr. Hogseth is devoted to her family which includes her husband Erich, 3 children, Charlie (Grrand rescued Golden-Doodle), Lily (rescued Miniature Golden-Doodle), and Gracie and Stella (rescued kitties).  She also has a special love for birds and rats.  In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, birding, and gatherings with friends and family.

  • Dr. Colleen Black

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Colleen Black  is a 1998 graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, located in Lafayette, IN.  She was an associate veterinarian at Lakota Hills Animal Clinic from 1999 through 2003.  Following 5 years of veterinary relief work, she returned to Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in 2008.

    Dr. Black has special interest in dermatology, internal medicine, and geriatric medicine.

    When Dr. Black is not working, her life revolves around her family which includes her husband and two daughters, pitbull mix Yammi, and guinea pigs.

    In her free time, she enjoys reading, jogging, swimming, and visiting out of town friends.

  • Mindy

    Hospital Manager

    Mindy has worked as a Veterinary Hospital Practice Manager since 1992, and joined Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in 2003.

    In addition to working as the Hospital Manager, Mindy is also the clinic's Nutritional Consultant and Behavior Counselor.

    Mindy’s special interests in veterinary medicine include oncology, cardiology, geriatrics, holistic and alternative medicine, nutrition, and behavior.

    In her free time Mindy enjoys participating in car shows and cruise-in events with the family antique cars and street rods (her red '59 Chevy Bel Air is her inherited pride and joy!), target shooting, and reading.  Mindy is an advocate for pet cancer awareness and is a member of an on-line Pet Cancer Support group, as well as a board member of The Magic Bullet Fund, a canine cancer group which assists in funding for veterinary cancer bills.

    Mindy shares her life with her husband John and their completely crazy Siamese mix rescued kitty, Sirus.

  • Melissa

    Client Service Supervisor

    Melissa returned to Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in the spring of 2018.  She was part of our team quite a few years ago, and has many years experience as a veterinary client coordinator, receptionist, and office manager.

    Melissa's favorite part of being involved in veterinary medicine is being able to help clients feel comfortable when they are worried about their pets.  Melissa also loves watching the puppies grow up and seeing how much they change between their puppy visits.

    Melissa shares her life with husband Doug, 3 children (including a set of twins), and 2 rescued mixed breed dogs Jackie and Zeke.  In her time away from the hospital, Melissa enjoys music, reading, and taking walks.

    Registered Veterinary Technician, Head Technician


    Carol graduated from University of Cincinnati Raymond Walters Veterinary Technician program in 1976, was the very first Registered Veterinary Technician at Lakota Hills Animal Clinic, and has been our head technician and inventory control manager since that time.

    Carol enjoys interacting with the clients and patients, and has a special love for surgery and dentistry.

    In her free time, Carol enjoys gardening, bird watching, traveling, and reading.

    Carol’s family includes her Shetland Sheepdog Merlin, and her kitties Indigo and Oreo.

    Registered Veterinary Technician, Purchasing Coordinator

    Danelle began working for Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in 2008, with previous veterinary assistant experience. 

    Danelle graduated from Diamond Oaks CDC Equine Science and Management program, completed many on-line veterinary assistant courses, as well as many courses in the Veterinary Technician Program at Penn-Foster College, and received her Associate in Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology from the University of Cincinnati Raymond Walters Veterinary Technician Program in 2014.

    Danelle's favorite areas of veterinary medicine include oncology and therapeutic rehabilitation.

    In her free time Danelle enjoys horseback riding and competition barrel racing.  She shares her life with husband Artie, Catahoula Leopard dog Turbo, kitty Ty Ty, and horses Cheyenne, North, and Penelope.

    Registered Veterinary Techincian

    Laura received her Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from the Veterinary Technician Institute of  International Business College in 2008 and with several years of prior experience, began working for Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in 2012. 

    Laura's favorite areas of veterinary medicine include feline behavior, emergency, and critical care.

    In her time away from the clinic, Laura enjoys video games, website design and management, going to concerts and Cincinnati Reds games.

    Laura's family includes her new daughter, and kitties Zoe, Pedro, Callie, and Oliver.

    Registered Veterinary Technician

    Stephani joined Lakota Hills Animal Clinic fall of 2017 with almost 5 years experience in the veterinary field.  She received her Associate degree in Applied Animal Science in Veterinary Technology from Sinclair Community College May 2017.

    Stephani's favorite aspects of veterinary medicine are anesthesia and surgery.

    In her time away from the clinic, Stephani enjoys spending time with her family and pets, kayaking, and anything outdoors.

    Stephani's family includes her husband Jared, 3 sons, dogs Charli and Cooper, kitty Alvin, and 12 chickens.

    Veterinary Technician Assistant

    Julia joined Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in the fall of 2016.  She graduated from Miami University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Zoology, and is looking forward to continuing her education towards earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in the future.

    Julia shares her life with Maggie Mae, a basset hound who is the love of her life; Whiskey, her horse which was rescued as an orphaned foal; and Rocky, a pitbull/hound mix she shares with her sister.

    In her free time, Julia enjoys working with horses, and singing and performing.  She was a singer and dancer at Kings Island, prior to beginning her career in veterinary medicine.

    Veterinary Assistant, Client Service Representative

    Jenny came to work for Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in 2006, with several years of veterinary experience.

    Jenny graduated from Midway College with a BS in Equine Therapy.

    Jenny is passionate about rescuing homeless animals and in her spare time supports several feral cat colonies in which she traps and sterilizes kitties, and either releases them back to their families or finds homes for the adoptable ones.

    Jenny has a menagerie of rescued pets of her own including her horse Mamma, dogs Ringo and Sydney, 10 cats, as well as many fosters.

    Jessica joined Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in the spring of 2006She attended Miami University of Middletown.

    Jessica loves fostering our "baby cats" while they are waiting for their furrever homes and can often be seen cuddling them around the clinic.

    Jessica shares her life with husband Jason, Labrador Retriever Maynard, kitties Twilly, Geddy, and Grody, and turtle Hank the Tank.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Allison joined Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in the summer of 2017, after graduating from Ohio State University.  Allison earned her Bachelor's of Agriculture in Animal Science with an Industries specialization degree, and a minor in Farm Management.  Allison also has an Associate of Science in Horse Science.

    Allison's special interests in veterinary medicine include companion animals and horses.

    Allison's furry family members include her Labrador Retreivers Mugsy and Charle, kitty Luna, and guinea pigs Goldilocks and Hazel.

    In her free time away from the clinic, Allison enjoys hiking with her dogs, kayaking, horseback riding, and snow skiing.  Allison also does pet sitting for neighbors, friends and family.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Kayla joined Lakota Hills Animal Clinic in the fall of 2017.  Kayla is currently a student at University of Cincinnati, anticipating enrollment in their Raymond Walters Veterinary Technician program, and is looking forward to starting her career as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the future.

    Kayla has 2 younger brothers, a golden-doodle Bogey, and a boxer Ginger. 

    When Kayla is not working or attending college, she enjoys going to the gym, hiking, and water sports.
